What is reactive thrombocytosis?
Reactive thrombocytosis is an abnormal increase in the number of platelets. It may be caused by surgery, an infection, or trauma, among other causes. Typically the thrombocyte count returns to normal following resolution of the other condition. It is rarely associated with blood clots.
