Duloxetine is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SSNRI). It may be used for depression, general anxiety disorder, pain associated with diabetic neuropathy and fibromyalgia.

Advice & Tips: If you are hesitant to take any antidepressant because of weight gain or sexual desire issues, try it first.  If it does cause that, you can always be switched to another antidepressant.  There are many, many of these different formulae available to you and your doctor and it might take a while to find the one that is right for you.  Also, internal med MDs and GPs often don't give high enough dosages to be clinically significant (studies show), so if your depression and pain aren't improving, consider a one-time or a short course of visits to a psychiatrist, because they are experts in prescriptions for mental health issues.
