What is spinal cord tumor?

A spinal cord tumor is an abnormal growth of cells (mass) in or surrounding the spinal cord. The size, growth, and side effects of the tumor will vary. The tumor may press on the spinal cord or nerve roots, causing abnormal sensations and/or damage.
