What is sphincter of Oddi dysfunction?

The sphincter of Oddi is a circular muscle that controls the flow of bile and pancreatic juices into the intestinal tract. When it does not function as it should it prevents the bile and pancreatic juice from flowing through causing a backup of digestive juices.
