What is scoliosis?

Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine. It is classified as congenital when a deformity is present at birth; idiopathic when the cause is unknown; or neuromuscular when it develops as a secondary symptom of another condition such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy or trauma.
