Advice & Tips:
This not a tip or advice... This is more of a quick view into my daily dosing schedule.
My target blood sugar before meals is 5.0 - I take the reading of my blood sugar and subtract my target (eg: 20.4 - 5.0 = 15.4)
I then divide that number by 2.22 (the amount of insulin required to lower my blood sugar by one point) (eg: 15.4 / 2.22 = 6.94)
Then I take the total number of carbs I will intake, and divide that by 13.2 (I need one unit of insulin for every 13.2g of carbs I intake) (eg: 67 / 13.3 = 5.06)
Add the two totals, and you have my combined correction & bolus for a meal (eg: 6.94 + 5.06 = 12u)
And I have to do this with confusion, dizziness, nausea, severe pain etc... and I'm terrible at math LOL... If my husband wasn't home taking care of me I think I'd go mad... If they don't get my disability on track so I can get someone in to help me, he's never going to be able to go back to work again :(
