Venlafaxine is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRIs). It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression. It is used to treat major depressive disorder, anxiety, and panic disorder.

Advice & Tips: This medication is absolute hell to come off, withdrawal effects include brain zaps, insomnia, headaches, nightmares, and light sensitivity. Start and stop this medication with caution.

Advice & Tips: Currently withdrawing slowly, have been for a year. I am down to about 1/2 of a capsule.

Advice & Tips: The anxiety came on the scene with an increase in the dosage. If you have an anxiety disorder, I guess I would use this at an increased dose cautiously.

Advice & Tips: This was my 3rd try for a depression med. I have now been on in a majority of 18 years. It just works for me when I take it correctly. Don't suddenly stop, you must taper. It is really uncomfortable if you stop suddenly.
