  • Effectiveness
    Major (for irritable bowel syndrome)
  • Side effects
    None
  • Adherence
    Sometimes
  • Burden
    Somewhat hard to take
Dosage: Daily
Advice & Tips: Polyethylene Glycol is the exact same medicine as Miralax and insurance will pay for the Polyethylene Glycol and will not pay for Miralax so that is a good reason for taking the Polyethylene Glycol. They both have the exact same ingredients in them. I don't take it as directed as I have a very delicate constitution and I get diarrhea easily and I don't need very much of it even though I am constipated most of the time. I hate to overdo it. It is tasteless and odorless and dissolves easily so you can mix it with anything, food or drink. It does not get all thick and nasty like some laxatives. It takes a couple of days to work.
Cost: < $25 monthly
