What is norovirus infection?

Norovirus infection can cause sudden onset of severe vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea. It is a highly contagious virus and is spread through contaminated food or water. Symptoms typically begin within 24 to 48 hours after exposure and may last from 1 to 3 days.
