What is Colostomy reversal?

Category: Procedures

A colostomy is a surgical opening in the belly that brings the large intestine up to the surface of the skin. In a colostomy reversal, a reservoir or pouch is made inside the body that can be drained with a catheter. This removes the need for an external ostomy bag.
