    gkygrl was feeling good for

Took a 3rd 40 mg Copaxone shot and still have big welts from the other two. Chose the left thigh for this shot and the manual injection method. Used heat first, alcohol, let the alcohol swab dry, make sure there are NO drops on the end of the needle and injected slowly over about 10 seconds. Immediately iced the spot. No real pain whatsoever.

Years ago when I was taking daily Copaxone, I accidentally injected into a muscle (or something) that put my hip into spasms. Seriously BAD! I will try to ensure I do not do that again!

I hope that the welts go away. I chose Copaxone again because I think I can deal with the site reactions over time vs liver enzyme problems or feeling like a I have the flu. I've never tried anything but Copaxone. Never notice many other side-effects except a little nausea after my first injection. Subsided within a few hours.

I've been creating digital art over the past few months (and traditional art in the form of abstracts - acrylic on canvas). This is new for me and is therapy. I'm a musician but not feeling very musical with sore hands (finger spasms, trigger fingers) and fatigue. I was a drummer, played guitar and sang. Also not liking the quality of my voice. I have found a new artistic outlet. I love mid-century modern "mid mod" so my digital abstracts and digital cats can take that flair. Just sharing my most recent.

    • StartedAug 8, 2002
    • Dosage40 mg 3 times a week
    • Effectiveness Can’t tell (for multiple sclerosis)
    • Side effects Moderate
    • Adherence Always
    • Burden Somewhat hard to take
    • Cost< $25 monthly
    • Advice & TipsMy initial injection from two days ago is still a welt and itchy (on my abdomen). Gave my new shot in the arm using the Autoject and preceded by a hot compress. That seems to have made a nice difference with itching and welt. Will have to see how things look the day after. The autoject was actually better than I thought. I used a depth of "4" and it seemed to really work.

    • Advice & TipsI have started the Copaxone 40mgs 3X a week injection and this will be a lifesaver for me. I also used some Benadryl cream after the injection and this helped with the site injection welt I typically get. Remarkable results using that cream. Wish I would have known earlier! I have to go on a DMD after my last relapse. Don't want any more issues.
