I must have slept wrong. Lower right back hurts but seems to be easing. Have to babysit estranged hubby tomorrow for more dental surgery for him. I feel terribly bad for him because I have had so much dental trouble myself, but he is a good patient so should be no problems. Just hope my back feels better!

My lower back is finally starting to become less painful. It has been feeling as though all of the muscles in my lower back were in a knot. I still have 8 sessions of Physical Therapy to do, but that should be much easier without the constant pain.

Once again I am fighting the horrible pain in my lower back, only now I know why it hurts and have a plan of action for it. We have name brand water in large 5 gallon bottles delivered to our home. They arrive in the driveway and my son in law brings them in and loads them into the dispenser. A bottle or so back, part of the mechanism that helps the water dispense broke off so he took off the whole bottle and loaded a new bottle (we all drink this water, the cat and rabbit drink it and my daughter cooks with it). The new bottle was rather slow to get started, so I used the other bottle which still had water in it. 5 gallons of water is WAY OVER my limit to lift which is no more than a gallon of milk. I did not notice any pain until the last few pourings of the water, but when we finally finished the bottle off and I went to put it in the driveway, the minute I picked up the empty bottle I realized where my back pain was coming from! That was yesterday evening after I had been to my regular doctor. He had prescribed 4 weeks of 2 visit per week of physical therapy. Then he also reduced my fentanyl patch dosage so I don't know what will work, if anything!

Once again, most of me feels well, but my lower back is beyond painful! Fortunately, I see my GP this afternoon. I am supposed to go from 75mg/every 3 days on my Fentanyl pain patches to 50, but I don't know if that will happen. Oh well....

While the rest of me feels fine, my lower thoracic and ALL of the lumbar vertebrae in my back are PAINFUL!! Don't know what I did, but had to force myself to get out of the bed and get dressed! I am hoping it is because I give myself my Orencia shot tomorrow afternoon! I am not supposed to take ibuprofen , but there are days when that is the only thing that will help. When even the oxycodone won't kill the pain, it's scary!

Had a fight (argument) with my daughter (who I live with). Very hard for me not to always run the show as her mother. She is a VERY independent, self sufficient woman, but still my baby. Due to all of my medical problems, we decided last year after I fell and broke my collarbone that it would be better for me to live with her and her husband than with my alcoholic husband of 21 years who retired at the end of 2016. He has since stopped drinking and seems to finally be taking care of our 4 bedroom home located among 9.06 acres of Chandler English Walnut trees. I have been walking for at least 15 minutes a day in our local neighborhood. My RA is working itself out in terms of flares. Right now I am having trouble with my right wrist and hand and my left foot.....Nice weather after a wet winter helps me feel better too!

Have had a relatively good week and actually woke up this morning with MUCH less swelling in my right hand and wrist (latest flare). Have been trying to go to bed earlier at night so that I can get up earlier in the day. My daughter (who I live with) wants me to be more alive during the daytime and less so at night. Took my normal meds and went for my regular 15 minute neighborhood walk but had to take a Zofran (stomach) when I got back. I am just not hungry in the daytime so I tend to eat 1 meal, usually in the late afternoon. I have been having either constipation or diarrhea lately and am afraid my upper GI bleed may be back. Meanwhile, I keep gaining weight. Haven't been to the gym yet, as I want one of my (adult) kids to go with me the first time. I have developed a preference for solitude during the last few years I have lived with my husband. I try to compensate by being friendly in public and telling people they look nice, etc (when they do!) in hopes of putting a smile on others' faces. I also tend to pay parking meters downtown in our nearby metropolis of Chico. Hopefully, my stomach will stop being so willful. My RA has been going steadily downhill and I am awaiting authorization from my ins co. for Orencia.

My daughter understands it the best of any of them. She cannot remember a time when Mom did not have RA since I was diagnosed at age 25 and she was born when I was 23. My ex husband, who I was married to at the time of my dx understood what I was going through and was much more sympathetic, until he took up with his best friend's wife and left.....My son understands it somewhat. He is only 15 months older than my daughter but still tends to think Mom can do everything she used to do.....His spouse is very understanding and, surprisingly, his ex is still a close friend and knows more about it than most of my kids' other friends. My step son, who I adopted (he is 6 weeks older than my daughter and both of his parents are deceased, my best friend and my kids' Dad) understands a lot of my RA problems because his mother lived and died from Muscular Dystrophy, but he tends to be very self involved. My estranged husband has not only not got a clue, despite my attempts to educate him over 21 years, but is extremely unempathetic and admits freely to being so. My birthfamily tend to be much more understanding of my RA than my adoptive family does. Cancer runs RAMPANT in my birthfamily so most of my currently surviving family are sympathetic and understanding of illness in general. I recently found several websites that had advice for telling your family about your RA. I tell people generally that it is an immune disease where your body is fighting itself and that ends up with umpteen other symptoms, etc.
