What is nephrogenic systemic fibrosis?
Nephrogenic systemic fibrosis, also sometimes called nephrogenic systemic dermopathy, is a rare disease characterized by thickened patches of skin. It can also sometimes affect the internal organs. In people with advanced kidney disease, it may be caused by exposure to gadolinium during MRIs.
