What is 18p-?

18p-, also known as 18p minus syndrome or 18p deletion syndrome, is a rare chromosomal abnormality in which there is a deletion in part of the short arm of chromosome 18. Characteristics are varied in each individual but can include cognitive delays, vision problems, and heart defects.
