Nail-patella syndrome is characterized by abnormalities of the nails, knees, elbows, and pelvis. Some features include poorly developed nails (split, ridged, or pitted) and small, irregularly shaped, or absent kneecaps. The name is misleading because it can affect other areas of the body.
