What is ectopic kidney?

Kidneys are located at the mid back, just below the rib cage. An ectopic kidney is characterized as a kidney not in its usual position. The kidney may be on the correct side but in an abnormal position, or it may have ascended to opposite side, and/or fused with the other kidney.
