What is ventribular fibrillation?

Ventricular fibrillation is a specific type of abnormal heart rhythm that occurs when the lower chambers of the heart beat very rapidly and in an erratic way due to abnormal electrical impulses. This prevents the heart from pumping blood adequately and may lead to cardiac arrest if not treated.
