What is venous hypertension?

The valves of the leg can become damaged by trauma, obesity, or other co-occurring conditions. When the valves work improperly they will allow backflow of venous blood in veins and will cause a rise in the pressure of the vein wall. Symptoms may include swelling, skin discoloration, and leg ulcers.
