What is propionic acidemia?
Propionic acidemia is characterized as an inherited condition in which the body is produces an ineffective form of the enzyme propionyl-coenzyme A (CoA) carboxylase which results in the accumulation of propionic acid. As a result, the body is unable to process specific fats and proteins.
