Neurosyphilis is a chronic, insidious inflammation in the brain that occurs in the tertiary stage of untreated syphilis. It is characterized by psychosis, delirium, and dementia. Other nervous system changes may include vision problems, myelopathy (dysfunction of the spinal cord), and seizures.
