What is mucosal melanoma?
Mucosal melanoma is a very rare form of melanoma arising from mucosal surfaces, usually in the head and neck, vulvovaginal, and anorectal regions. There are no clear predisposing risk factors but this type of melanoma occurs more often in women than men. Treatment involves surgery and/or radiation.
