What is intrauterine growth restriction?
Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) occurs when the fetus does not reach expected growth during development in the uterus. It may be caused by factors such as placental problems, multiples (twins, etc.) or congenital conditions. IUGR may increase the risk of complications during delivery.
