What is blighted ovum?
A blighted ovum is when a fertilized egg implants into the uterus, develops a placenta and membrane, but embryo development does not occur. Some reasons this may happen are due to chromosomal abnormalities in the fertilized egg. It is a common cause for miscarriage.
