What is alveolar osteitis?
Alveolar osteitis or dry socket may occur after dental work, e.g. tooth extraction. When the blood clot at the site of the dental work is removed or dissolved before complete healing has occurred, the exposed bone and nerves can cause pain and a foul odor.
