What is alpha-gal allergy?

Alpha-Gal Allergy is an allergic reaction to Galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose; it is also sometimes referred to as Meat Allergy. Individuals with Alpha-Gal have a reaction to mammal meat or products containing mammal meat, but do not react to fish or chicken. It is believed to be caused by a tick bite.
