What is Hydroureteronephrosis?

Hydroureteronephrosis is characterized as a blockage of flow of urine due to an anatomical or functional (e.g. kidney stones) cause; the downward flow of urine is then backed up and a dilatation of the urinary system (renal pelvis, calyces and ureter) occurs.
