I was diagnosed as bipolar in 2001, after struggling somewhat with my consultant and keyworkers, as there seemed to have been a rumour put about that I was "putting it on". Eventually I was transferred to another ward, where the sister recognised the sort of "smiling" depression common to many health workers. I work as a nurse, but my mood still bounces up and down, but mostly down. I get a lot of support from my family, my church and my colleagues.
