I've been feeling SO much better on Lyrica that I haven't checked in lately. But today showed me that my improvement is FRAGILE. I mowed grass today, and my body tolerated it very well. But I could not string together a coherent thought or sentence to save me. And I worked today.

While pain has decreased with Lyrica, stiffness seems to be increasing. There are also some additional things going on financially and personally that have increased stress.

stormy weather causing arthritis pain and stiffness; unfortunately Lyrica does not address this issue, and given the success I have had with it, I don't want to add any other meds and mess it up. Sleeping much better, concentration is up, but memory is down. Yesterday I lost an item that I had in hand not five minutes earlier, then I misplaced my billfold with my drivers license, bank card, etc., and after sixteen hours of searching, I found it on my bed. If it weren't such a pain in the patoot it would be funny.

Rough day, emotionally and financially; it turned out ok, but not without some sacrifice. The stress has caused a minor pain cascade. My joints, but especially my hands and feet, are very uncomfortable. A good night of sleep should clear that up.

Ok, woke up great, low pain levels, mild stiffness that went away with some stretching, all good, right? Well, it would have been if I had listened to the wise advice of a friend (thanks, Brooke!) who told me to take it easy, and resist the temptation to overdo because I felt so much better. I did a long session of stretching, concentrating on areas that have historically been tight. As I was going merrily along in my pursuit of a limber body, my dog tossed his soccer ball at my feet. You guessed it, I kicked the ball, my dog dived in front of it (about two feet in front of me), the ball went nowhere and the force translated back into my lower leg. The long muscle down the front of my leg has been tweaked in a major way. I have spent the majority of the day alternating heat and cold, and feel like I am back at square one. That isn't true, because the rest of my body is great. My leg hurts like a mf, and I have learned my lesson. Going forward, I will honor my body, and try to honor safe limits in what I do.

Day 6 of Lyrica; OMG! I almost feel like myself! Good night sleep, maybe not as long as I would have liked, but I still feel rested. I did gentle stretching for about 15 minutes today, and set up an area with my step that just invites incidental exercise.

Started Lyrica 50mg daily, Paxil 40mg daily, Trazodone 25mg each night, Tramadol 200mg daily; have noticed slight side effects from Lyrica: heightened emotional sensation. I am feeling a little more angry than usual, but I think this may be a good thing. I have lived an emotionally deadened life, and actually feeling and acknowledging my emotions is a new experience.

I'm planning to take it slow, and stop at the lowest dosage that gives me results. I have tried some other meds, but have had side effects. I am determined that this one is going to work.

One thing that fibro has taught me, every person reacts differently to a medication. I'm sure that Effexor works well for lots of people, but it makes me crazy. The only person that can judge whether a med is right for you is YOU.

I resisted it for the longest time, considering negative experiences with other meds. But this last flare just wiped me out, so I was ready to try anything. I'm so glad Lyrica is working so far.
