Kava Kava is derived from the rhizome, or root, of the plant, kava is from the Pacific Rim and Hawaiian Islands. It is used for anxiety, stress, and insomnia. The kavapyrones, thought responsible for activity, produce skeletal muscle relaxation, non-narcotic anesthesia, and local anesthetic effects.

Advice & Tips: Schelosky, Raffauf, Jendroska, and Poewe "Kava and Dopamine Antagonism" J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry 58(5), pp 639-640 (1995) found that Kava Kava competes with dopamine and thus increases the symptoms of PD.

Advice & Tips: Can't give dose of Piper methysticum as it is part of a tinture tonic blended by the Centre for Natural Healing (CNH) in Ashland OR. I am in process of having it removed from the blend as I have read that it can be toxic.
