Sep 30, 2017 (Started Jul 31, 2015)

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for Parkinson's disease)
  • Side effects
    Mild (jerky movements)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
    A little hard to take
Dosage: 2 x 48.75-195 mg Four times daily
Advice & Tips: My dose schedule is 1 capsule very four hours. 6am 10am 2pm 6pm IT seems I need at least 2-4 hrs in my system before I get out of bed. I can get tremors after 9pm, but the additional modafinil and cymbalta could be part of it. Also, my neurologist noted dyskenesia at my yearly visit (8/30/17). We tried bumping down from 195 mg to 145 mg in case I developed more sensitivity, hence needing less. Nope, after about 6 days I returnd to the 195 mg dose.

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for Parkinson's disease)
  • Side effects
    Mild (jerky movements)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
Not at all hard to take
Dosage: 2 x 48.75-195 mg Four times daily
Advice & Tips: I am happy with the effectiveness with Rytary compared to Sinemet. I tried 4x a day, but i got wiggly in the evening. Yet, if I had to be out and about in the evening, I would take the 4th dose. I wonder if I'm more wakeful with Rytary and need less modafinil?

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for Parkinson's disease)
  • Side effects
    Mild (jerky movements)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
    A little hard to take
Dosage: 2 x 48.75-195 mg Four times daily
Advice & Tips: I noticed a lack of effectiveness in early August. Neurologist said to add one 25/100 carbidopa/levadopa to the the 36.25/145 mg Rytary dose. After couple weeks it seemed to be enough. At that point I started one dose 48.75-195 mg four times daily. It is acceptable. I take it every 4 hours , starting at 6am. Sometimes I don't take the 6pm dose.

Jul 21, 2016 (Started Jul 31, 2015)

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for Parkinson's disease)
  • Side effects
    Mild (jerky movements)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
    A little hard to take
Dosage: 36.25-145 mg Four times daily
Advice & Tips: Rytary has smoothed out the peaks and valleys. It took about 6 weeks of futzing with the timing. I was pleasantly surprised. It makes it easier to predict the days outings I'm able to trust my body. Note: my insurance is a HDHP so my cost varies from 100% of negotiated cost, to 20%, to 0%.
Cost: $25-49 monthly

Jul 14, 2017 (Started Jun 15, 2017)

  • Effectiveness

  • Effectiveness
    Moderate (for Parkinson's disease)
  • Side effects
    Severe
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
Not at all hard to take
Dosage: 9 x 48.75-195 mg Daily
Advice & Tips: Make sure that proscriber considers other medications you are taking which address the problem which Rytary is supposed to help, namely wearing off. I was using the azilect and neupro patch and either my size or the wisdom of adding a medication to the same dosage as previously prescribed wasn’t taken into consideration. I ended falling more in the four months after starting than in the past year. An unexpected benefit more energy. in the past year comb.
