Acetyl L-Carnitine is the name of a dietary supplement. L-Carnitine is a cofactor in "aerobic metabolism"; this is the chemical reaction in the body which turns food into energy using oxygen. It may also have anti-oxidant properties, scavenging free radicals within cells.
