Edwards SAPIEN prosthesis is an aortic valve device inserted transfemorally (femoral artery) or transapically (apex of the heart) with a catheter. It may be used in patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis who are not candidates for conventional open heart procedure to replace valve.
