Abacavir (ABC) is used in combination with other medications to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in patients with or without acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Abacavir is in a class of antiviral medications called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs).

Advice & Tips: That it is the first nrti that simplified dosing and that more effective nrti are now available with less side effects. I will be changing to another medication 6/09.
