The femoral artery is a large blood vessel in the leg. Angioplasty of the femoral artery opens up this blood vessel. Additionally, a placement of a stent may be used, which keeps the vessel or tissue in an open position to allow bypass of scarred or thickened tissue and improve blood flow.
