What is AIDA (ATRA and Idarubicin)?

This regimen is used to induce remission in newly diagnosed acute promyelocytic leukemia and includes ATRA (all-trans-retinoic acid) given by mouth daily until a complete remission or for a maximum of 90 days and Idarubicin (Idamycin) given IV on days 2,4,6,8. One cycle lasts a maximum of 90 days.
