Advice & Tips: reduction of Requip further reduced primary side effect of swelling of feet ankles. There has been no increase in my parkinson symptoms following this reduction. It seems that the positive results from the addition of Azilect about 6 months ago more than compensated for the benefits of the third Requip tablet. If this continues I plan to reduce Requip by 2 mg per day from 6 mg to 4 mg per day.

Advice & Tips: 1. Consult with a pharmacist or a psychiatrist to find out how this drug may affect your behavior and/or mood. 2. Draw up a plan. Make sure your family and friends know to watch for any signs of behavior changes. These can be subtle at first. YOU, the patient, probably won't realize what is happening. Obsessive/compulsive and impulsive behaviors can include a lot of things besides gambling, overeating, and overspending. 3. This drug can cause hyper-sexuality. Talk to your partner and be mindful of possible effects from the drug. This is not a nice side effect!! 4. Are you also taking Sinemet? The two together can amplify side effects. We were not told about these side effects.

Advice & Tips: Just increased my dosage to work up slowly to 24mg, I can now tolerate 20mg and will increase to 22Mg for next week, I hope, I can tell the difference because my tremors had become worse in my hand, arm, and even started in my left leg, Now they have calmed down unless I get too tired. Hooray! I will add Sinemet if I really need it. but for now I can still go to work.. I take all of my Requip XL early in the AM because I can't sleep if I take it at night, It is a little unpleasant when it hits -but it lasts for me until midnight.

Advice & Tips: Without requip XL, I would lose my fine motor skills and would not be able to work as writing. typing, etc. would be impossible for me. Word retrieval would become impossible again. This drug is a godsend for me and no trouble to take in the early AM not at bedtime. Love it for now - even with low blood sodium levels that must be closely monitored. n

Advice & Tips: This drug has done wonders for me. I just hope it keeps me in the condition that I am in now = a few arm and finger tremors almost seem like part of my natural self. It would be strange if they stopped. I didn't want to do any meds - just denial. I'm glad my neurologist knows the magic words to make me do what is best.

Advice & Tips: It makes you sick. About 20 minutes after you take it, it feels like you got hit by a car and knocked off a cliff with lightheadedness and nausea all the way down - then on some days after that I feel so good - like I never knew that a person could feel. Be sure to be compliant with this medication. I wasn't at first - too much denial and it was horrible.

Advice & Tips: I originally had ET and it has transformed into Parkinson, as diagnosed by my doctor. I am still having a problem accepting this. I had restless leg and was taking Ropinirole for that at night. She has just extending the dosage. I also had tremors when I wrote and head tremors. She is prescribing Topamax (changing to Zonisamide) for these. The propranalol worked best for me, but because of slow heart rate they will not prescribe now.

As the dosage has been reduced my aerobic breathing has returned to nearly the levels before I began taking medication. At 8 mg or more I was unable to swim the regular distances I had been swimming previously
