Oct 21, 2010 (Started Jul 15, 2003)

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for multiple sclerosis)
  • Side effects
    None (for Overall)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
Not at all hard to take
Dosage: 44 mcg/0.5 mL 3 times a week
Advice & Tips: If you have used the auto injector and found it painful, don't give up on the drug. I just give myself the injection with the prefilled syringe and do it VERY Slowly!! It won't burn or leave the bruises as it might with the Rebiject. Also, the cost is expensive, as it is for all of the injections. But the MSLieflines can help with the cost. I had a co-pay of $805.00 but now only pay $50.00 since I qualified for assistance thru the MSLifelines program.
Cost: $50-99 monthly

Advice & Tips: after I stopped taking rebif I'm no longer fatigued, weak feeling, get flu like symptoms, can walk better, think clearly, my hand trmor has gotten worse. in the last few months I was taking it I was in the hospital 2-3 times a month with a fever that ran 100-103* and during that time I couldn't walk, sit upright, speech was very incoherent at it's best. with on it though my lesions did not grow in size or in numbers.

    None (for multiple sclerosis)

    Moderate (for Overall)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden

Dosage: 44 mcg/0.5 mL 3 times a week
Advice & Tips: At first,my husband did my Rebif injections for me using the Rebi-ject.(I was nervous)After a few weeks I decided that I was going to try doing it myself, but because of the numbness in my fingers,I was unable to use the Rebi-ject.So, I did the injections without it.(Alot easier for me) The reason I stopped using Rebif was because I had a few more lesions show up while on it.The only side-effect I had was injection site reactions.Bright red marks right after injections that would last for a week or two.Call me vain if you wish, but I live in Florida.Because of the site reaction,I quit wearing shorts and bathing suits. That put a damper on alot of the outdoor activities our family enjoys to do. My wonderful hubby,my neurologist (who is great btw) and I discussed this and we have decided that Tysabri is the treatment I should use. *********fingers, eyes, and toes crossed**********

Jul 20, 2010 (Started Sep 15, 2009)

  • Effectiveness
    Can't tell (for multiple sclerosis)
  • Side effects
    Moderate (for Overall)
  • Adherence
    Usually
  • Burden
    A little hard to take
Dosage: 22 mcg/0.5 mL 3 times a week
Advice & Tips: I sometimes have trouble always taking as prescribed, my side affects are nausea, fatigue, and excessive soreness and redness near site of injection, ice pack and massage before or after injecting did not help at all. Had to reduce setting on injecter to two instead of 3, it decreased rashes and excessive bruising-which is a big plus. when I take my medication, it makes me unable to function for the next day--so useless 1/2 the week.
Cost: $50-99 monthly
