Dosage: 100 mg Three times daily
Advice & Tips: Don't wait until you are miserable with pain before taking. If I wait that long I won't get as much benefit and it will take longer to feel it. Even when I take it when I'm only feeling slightly uncomfortable, it can take at least an hour  before I begin to notice the effect.

  • Effectiveness
    Moderate (for ankylosing spondylitis)
  • Effectiveness
    Moderate (for pain)
  • Side effects
    Severe (for Overall) (withdrawal effects)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
Not at all hard to take
Dosage: As needed
Advice & Tips: Excellent painkiller, well worth taking for severe pain. But be aware that if you take this over a long time period at a high dose, you cannot simply stop Tramadol - the withdrawal effects are nasty. But don't worry, you just have to taper-off your dose gradually over a numbers of weeks, and you will be okay.
Cost: $25-49 monthly

  • Effectiveness

  • Side effects

  • Adherence

  • Burden

Dosage: As needed
Advice & Tips: Good pain relief but coming off tramadol after extended period was more difficult than I imagined - withdrawal effects from going cold turkey included insomnia, restlessness. If you gradually decrease the dose though its not a major problem.
