Advice & Tips:
The manufacturer fell behind and is back ordered until June at which time I will return to Voltaren Gel as the substiture Pennsaid is not nearly as effective., even though the active ingredients are the same. I'm guessing the consistancy of the gel caused it to be absorbed at a slower and steadier rate that then the consistancy of the Pennsaid lotion.

Advice & Tips:
This gel was originally prescribed by a hospital doctor for my lower back, after discharge, my regular doctor said I could use it for my other aches and pains. The gel is odorless and grease-less. I was told that it is based on a similar medication to Lidocaine which is what the dentist uses in your mouth before doing dental work (often called Novocaine). You do not get that numb feeling like you do in your mouth where it makes you drool and talk funny and your lips feel like they've swollen 3 times their size. However, about twenty minutes after application, you do not feel any pain at all, but it is only a short term solution to pain. I usually use it if I'm hurting so bad that I have to take my break through pain medication (hydrocodone) and I use the gel to bridge the gap between taking the hydrocodone and the time it really kicks in (at least an hour for me). Sometimes, the gel is sufficient for neck pain to the degree that I don't need the hydrocodone. My regular pain mgmt system is Fentynol patches which deliver a prescribed dosage constantly in a "per hour" measurement. I think this gel is awesome!
