Advice & Tips: There is a trend with many transplant doctors I have been reading about, to end the use of prednisone in some types of patients involving some types of organ transplants. The number of damaging side effects is one reason. Also with weight gain comes risk of developing diabetes again. Also many people report it makes their aggression higher and patience much lower. Mood swings is another problem with it. This drug is very helpful with a number of ailments and diseases, as well as in transplant. The downside is the terrible side effects most people suffer from extended use. I am now experiencing a lot of bone and joint pain, which I have never had before. Talk to your doctor, but before you do, go to your internet and search for Transplant without Prednisone, or some similar search, and read for yourself. It is very informative, but be careful of who is doing the reporting. If you have questions about anything involving my experiences, please feel free to write to me, it alerts me in my regular email which I check 3 times a day or so. Good luck all! Advice & Tips: Swallow quick, taste is nasty! This drug made me hungry all the time, wanted to eat every 2 hours or so. Weight gain is a real concern. Went form 149# to 175#. Pants waist 29-35". Neck size 15 3/4-17 1/2". Required new clothing, and I keep to my diabetic diet thru force of habit to this day! Wanted to see if I could discontinue it, and was told yes, but I would decrease my survivability of transplants by 30%. Not a gambling man...lol, so I am still taking it and hating the weight gain.

Advice & Tips: This has become my wonder drug! Even though I can't stay on it as I am on a reducing dose over a 12 week period, this drug has made me feel wonderful for the 1st time in many many years. I feel so much "lighter" that second person I was dragging around with me everyday is gone. I have heaps more energy and my joint pains are almost non exsistant. I am concerned only when I start reducing if the symptoms will come back but my Specialist will be monitoring me and He is working out what will be best for me then in the long run. I know there are lots os side effects from this drug but I have been lucky that this has'nt occurred - just mainly feeling more hungry but I have been watching what I eat and the occasional night sweat. My whole life has taken a turn for the best at the moment. I have become alot more active playing lawn bowls a few times a week now, I pray this will last!

Advice & Tips: Helped with thee wheezing, made me anxious, and feel aggressive. Aggression kept under control because I know that it is a side effect of steroids, but it is difficult, and makes me agitated and have a short abount of patience. Became very nauseous 2 weeks into treatment, not able to eat very upset stomach and IBS like issues. Doc took me off instead of finishing course. Withdrawals suck. Feels like some wone smashed my body in multiple places with a hammer.

Advice & Tips: It makes me hyper, not in a good way, in a cracky, too much coffee way. Cannot go to sleep. Went to sleep at 4 and woke up at 9 for the first few nights, still having trouble sleeping. Feel better in the afternoon, between 6pm and 8pm it seems the inflammation kicks me. Feels like my bones are chalk and disintegrating, muscles feel like they are on fire. It sucks. Still wheezing, not as bad, but still wheezing.
