Advice & Tips:
I had been on a three day fast prior to a bilateral nephrectomy, and did not eat for several days post op at which time my body started burning fat and the stored Dapsone was released. Three or four days post op I started experiencing chest pain and severe shortness of breath. After several consults and and blood tests it was established that the red cells in my blood were coated with a substance that prevented them from oxygenating. Dapsone was discontinued and the condition slowly resolved after 28 days hospitalization, acute pancreatitis and an ERCP to clear the common bile duct. The gall bladder was then removed 2 months later.
