Advice & Tips: I just can't take pain meds. It's worse being sick to your stomach, when your in pain, and when I take it, I feel like I drank 2 pots of coffee. I'm zooming around cleaning and organizing, when I should be resting, because I'm in pain. It lessens the pain just enough , so I can do stuff, when it when wears off, the original pain comes back, and adds on the pain from what I was doing while on it. Grrrr

  • Effectiveness
    Moderate (for Pain)

  • Burden

Advice & Tips: Excellent painkiller, well worth taking for severe pain. But be aware that if you take this over a long time period at a high dose, you cannot simply stop Tramadol - the withdrawal effects are nasty. But don't worry, you just have to taper-off your dose gradually over a numbers of weeks, and you will be okay.
Cost: $25-49 monthly

Advice & Tips: Good pain relief but coming off tramadol after extended period was more difficult than I imagined - withdrawal effects from going cold turkey included insomnia, restlessness. If you gradually decrease the dose though its not a major problem.

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for Pain)
  • Side effects
    Severe (constipation)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
    A little hard to take
Dosage: 400 mg Daily
Advice & Tips: I started taking tramadol for a different illness. I found that It has a positive side effect, ENERGY!!! it is better at taking my pain away then vicodin. the only other med that works better is percocet. But it does cause stomach issues and severe constipation. If you dont consume enough water, you begin to have migrains. That normally does not become an issue if you make sure to take it only as prescribed.
