Severe (Nausea and vomiting, Vomiting, Nausea)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
    Very hard to take
Dosage: 25 mg-100 mg Daily
Advice & Tips: While I could not tolerate a full dose of the Carbo/Levo 25-100 tablets due to extreme nausea and vomitting, I am able to tolerate the Carbo/Levo Oral Dissolving Tablets 25-100 quite well.
Cost: < $25 monthly
Side effects: Nausea, Vomiting, Nausea and vomiting

Sep 8, 2010 (Started Jun 15, 2010)

  • Effectiveness
    Moderate (for Parkinson's Disease)
  • side effects
Severe (Nausea and vomiting, Vomiting, Nausea)
  • Adherence
    Usually
  • Burden
    Very hard to take
Dosage: 2 x 25 mg-100 mg Daily
Advice & Tips: I was OK when I was taking 1/2 tab 3 times a day. When I began full dosage, I had severe nausea and vomiting. I was prescribed a nausea med that did not work, and then prescribed Domperidone. Could not stay ahead of the nausea, although it was not as severe and the vomiting stopped. After awhile, I just quit all together because I was tired of being sick to my stomach 24/7. My joint pain increased so I went back to my originally dosage and things have gotten better.
Cost: < $25 monthly

May 5, 2011 (Started Aug 22, 2004)

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for Parkinson's Disease)
  • side effects
Moderate (Nominal Aphasia, Diminished sense of taste, Sleep problems, On/off time is like a rollercoaster ride, Drowsiness)
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
Not at all hard to take
Dosage: 4 x 25 mg-250 mg Daily
Advice & Tips: Carbo/levo consistently seems to be the most effective med I take. I can tell when it is time for me to take another one. Since sometimes my throat tightens up and my body just refuses to take another pill, I say a little prayer, relax my throat muscle and eventually it goes down. Keeps my ability to walk with confidence at a steady level.
Cost: $25-49 monthly
Side effects: Nominal Aphasia, Sleep problems, On/off time is like a rollercoaster ride, Diminished sense of taste, Drowsiness

Apr 8, 2011 (Started Jul 07, 2011)

  • Effectiveness
    Moderate (for Parkinson's Disease)
  • side effects
    Mild
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
    A little hard to take
Advice & Tips: I was unable to take a full dose of the regular carb/levo 25/100 tablets, so this was a great alternative. I was expecting it to fizz on my tongue and disappear, but instead it just sits there and you have to swallow as it slowly dissolves.
Cost: < $25 monthly

  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
    A little hard to take

Dec 29, 2010 (Started Jun 01, 2009)

  • Effectiveness
    Major (for Parkinson's Disease)
  • side effects
Moderate (Tired upon waking, Jerky movements (dyskinesia))
  • Adherence
    Always
  • Burden
Not at all hard to take
Dosage: 5 x 25 mg-100 mg Daily
Advice & Tips: The drug works quite well but takes some time to adjust to a suitable dosage... I found out there is an absolute limit to how much I can take in a 23-hour period. If I take more than five tablets, severe side effects kick in. Also while on this drug I am tired most of the time.
Side effects: Tired upon waking, Jerky movements (dyskinesia)

Advice & Tips: started Sinemet 2006-2007 taking 2 x25g per day, have since been increased to 3 x 25mg daily. my tremors have increased significantly over the past 2 months at times it feels as if I am not on any medication at all. I see my Neurologist in a weeks time for a review, will discuss this then. (the environment also plays a part in my tremors, the very cold weather we are having is also a cause of the tremors becoming worse)
