Advice & Tips: FOLFOX is 5-flourourocil (5-FU), leukovorin, and oxaliplatin. I got it by I/V over two hours and then wore a pump with 95ml of 5-FU for 48 hours, every two weeks. Oxaliplatin causes cold-induced acute peripheral neuropathy, along with other possible side-effects. It also has a dose-limiting toxicity resulting in long-term numbness/tingling in hands and feet. My doc stopped the oxaliplatin after treatment 10 of 12. Result has been poor balance (can't feel feet) and bad fine motor control (tying shoes, buttoning shirt).
Cost: < $25 monthly
