I have tried many different "techniques" and ways: Behavior Modification, Acupuncture (which helped a lot to settle me down), Retreats, Prayer, talking with others about spirituality. All of these ways at times helped me; I have slowed down mentally and physically to spend more time doing the things I really want to do--and less in spending time pleasing others. I have to keep at it, though, or I fall by the wayside. Prayer is the most effective for me.
Impact: Change, change, change. My life is different--but oh! How I love it.
