Advice & Tips: I still believe that Interactive Metronome is one of the best front line defenses against ALS for newly diagnosed or any patient with some degree of motor function there is. I have been doing this for five years and although I have progressed I believe that IM has slowed the progression dramatically. You can find the case study that IM did on me here http://www.interactivemetronome.com/images/larry-als-case-study.pdf

  • Burden
Not at all hard to take
Dosage: 3 hr Weekly
Advice & Tips: I highly recommend this treatment for all early diagnose ALS patients or patients that still have some motor function. It has greatly improved my balance, helped maintain motor function in my hands and arms and I truly believe that it has actually installed the progression of my disease. It does take some creative manipulation of the system in order to continue long-term treatment but so far I have managed to continue with minimal breaks for 2 1/2 years. Please see my posts in my journal.

Advice & Tips: Interactive metronome is a therapy developed to improve cognitive function resulting from brain damage associated with strokes, Parkinson's disease and severe head trauma. It is supposed to stimulate and improve brain signals and reestablish neurological pathways. It is also sometimes used to improve behavioral dysfunctions and other neurologically associated problems. In there is little data on its effectiveness in treating ALS but I will soon find out what its benefits are if any.
