Advice & Tips: Like its predecessor effexor, there is a horrible withdrawal. It has taken me over a year to successfully come off of this drug, after 2 1/2 years on it. Since the medication only comes in a 50mg and 100mg dose, I was either too medicated, or not medicated enough. For the last 6 months, I have been cutting the 50's into halves and quarters, but then it loses it's XR effect. The medication is awfully expensive also. The only reason I could afford it was because of a discount program from the manufacturer; but that ended 4 months ago and my insurance won't cover it. It definitely did help with my mood, but if it wasn't for augmenting with 4 other antidepressants, I know I would still be suicidal.
