Advice & Tips: Hand controls on my wheelchair accessible (ramp, kneeling system, lowered floor) Dodge Caravan allowed me to drive from 3/20/09 until 6/16/10. Since 6/16/10 my arms have been too weak for me to drive safely, and so now someone else has to drive me wherever I go.
Cost: $50-99 monthly
Side effects: slight tension when driving

    Major (for Improve mobility)
  • Side effects
    Mild (slight tension when driving)

Advice & Tips: I chose a Sure Grip hand control because it's action seemed more intuitive, with gas (up) and brake (down), and easier to become accustomed to than other systems. Without hand controls I would not have been able to drive for the past year.
