I am a kidney recipient. My daughter donated her kidney to me on June 5, 2009. The doctors do not have any idea of why my kidneys failed. I am the only one in all the extended family to have chronic kidney failure. My kidneys started to fail when I was 45 and completely failed about 1 and a half years later. I was on hemodialysis for almost a year before my transplant. Where I live in Southern California the wait for a kidney is at least 10 years. I am doing great ever since the transplant.
I am very happy to have been blessed with a kidney transplant. I have very good doctors although it was not always easy to get or find out about the best doctors for me. I am a bit lonely since I no longer work outside of the home and do not know anyone with the same or similar health issues as I have. I do not have anyone to talk to about the health problems and issues that arise.
