I go to Aspen High school and graduate next year. I am a competitive horseback rider and have reached my goal of jumping four feet. I own a horse named Perla. I am a freestyle skier as well as a coach for Aspen Ski Co and AVSC. I had my first seizure when I was nine and was diagnosed with JME in 2006. I have tried zonegran, lamictal, topomax, keppra, and felbatol. I know take 3,000mg of keppra, 25mg of topomax, and 3,000mg of felbatol. I have had around 85 tonic clonic seizures and have myoclonic jerks almost every day.
My name is Channing George Seideman. I was born and raised in Aspen, CO. I graduate Aspen High School in 2011. I have in older brother who goes to college at the University of Montana in Bozeman. When I was five years old I started riding horses. I now own my own horse named Perla and we jump four feet competitively. I hope to jump six feet one day and compete in a grand prix. Eventually I hope to be on the olympic equestrian team and/or ride at Spruce Meadows. I ride at Cozy Point Ranch which is also where I work and am an assistant to the manager. I work for Aspen Ski Co at Powder Pandas and teach never-evers how to ski at the age of two. When I was seven years old I joined the freestyle team at Aspen Valley Ski Club. Now I am a coach for their freestyle program. When I was younger I competed in freestyle skiing and took training camps with olympic skiers at home as well as in the olympic training park in Salt Lake City. My favorite run on the slopes is Highlands Bowl-a 2,500ft drop full of fresh snow and a one hour hike on a one foot wide trail. I hope to try heli-skiing. I hope to become a vet-tech and have already started interning with vets during each summer. I have been spoiled as a world traveler with my grandma. I have visited places such as: South Africa, Kenya, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Canada, Mexico, Tahiti, Equador, Galapagos Islands, France, Britain, Switzerland, and Germany. I had my first tonic clonic seizure when I was nine years old and have had around eighty-four more since then. However I have myoclonic jerks almost everyday. My epileptologist is Blanca Vasquez...the best. She is based out of the NYU Medical Center in New York. I have had countless EEGs, VEEGs, and ambulatory EEGs. I have tried many medications: lamictal, topomax, zonegran, keppra, and felbatol. Now I am on 25mg of topomax, 3,000mg of Keppra, and 3,000mg of felbatol. I keep a calendar of every seizure I have, when the full moon is, and when I'm sick. I give seizure cards to friends, family, teachers, and co-workers which have contact info on them as well as DOs and DO NOTs and other info on my epilepsy. Due to epilepsy I missed over half of middle school which for me is hard to get past. I am a passionate writer and wrote a letter to President Barak Obama concerning epilepsy. When I ride the chairlift skiing I have a harness attached to the chairlift as an extra safety tool. I also wear a titanium helmet riding. I did an interview with seize the world foundation and had an article written about me which you can find at www.seizetheworld.com. Each spring I volunteer with the Shining Stars Foundation for one week and make friends who have cancer or other life threatening diseases. My dog's name is Loge. He is a newfoundland who looks like a bear and weighs 110 lbs. My favorite hobbies include: tennis with my dad, texas holdem, movies, and being alone in my room. I could not wish for a more supportive or loving family as mine.
